She is survived by four nieces, whom she loved as daughters, and their families. Carla Oakley and husband Phil of Charleston, IL, Donna Trone and husband Randy of Columbia, IL, Michelle Diepholz and husband Rob of Simpsonville, SC, and Jan Crucitti and husband Eric of Terre Haute, IN; her brother, Robert (RC) Walters and his wife Bev of Ashmore, IL; and other extended family including three nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband; sister, Maxine Hoggart; brother, Bud Walters; and two sister-in-laws, Carolyn Walters and Juretta Walters.
Erlene was a 1954 graduate of Charleston High School. She worked for the county clerk's office at the Coles County Courthouse in Charleston, IL for 36 years. Erlene was a faithful attendee of the Westfield Baptist Church.
Erlene was a devoted, loving wife to her husband, Bill. They were inseparable, sharing a special love and friendship for nearly 62 years. Erlene and Bill enjoyed camping and traveling with other family and friends. She was a lover of all animals and wanted to rescue them all!
