Laura Mabel Parks, age 101, of Hindsville, peacefully departed this life on November 22, 2023, surrounded by the warmth of her loved ones.
Born on December 10, 1921, in Mt. Home, AR, to the late James and Getha Watson Parks.

Mabel, as she was affectionately known, graduated from Mt. Home High School in 1939 and continued her education as an adult accumulating two years of college credits.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Monroe Parks, and her son, William Robert "Bob" Parks.

Mabel's indomitable spirit and work ethic were evident from a young age, starting her career with social services at the tender age of 17. Climbing the ranks, she eventually became the district administrator for Baxter, Marion, and Searcy counties before her well-deserved retirement. A devout Christian, Mabel was a charter member of Crossroads Community Church.
Her passions extended beyond the professional realm, as Mabel was an avid lover of Jesus, animals, and travel. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from conquering crossword puzzles to showcasing her culinary prowess in the kitchen. Among her many talents, she was renowned for her skill in the game of chicken foot.

Mabel is survived by her daughter-in-law, Shirley Parks; grandchildren, Sarah Cottle (Joel), James Parks (Silvia); and great-grandchildren, Esther, Miriam, Isaac Cottle, and Sophie Parks. She is also fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Nelson Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville on November 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at 10:30 a.m. A final farewell will take place at Buckeye Cemetery.
