Bruce Ellis Alsup, age 48, died suddenly Thursday, September 27, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn M. (Hutchcraft) Alsup; two children Amanda Merkel and Eric Alsup; granddaughter Madison Merkel; his mother Nancy Hill and grandmother, Lora Williams; four brothers, James Allen Alsup, Jr, Steve Alsup, Douglas Eugene Alsup and Eddie Powell; a sister Carolyn Hill, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Allen Alsup, Sr., his step-father, Jessie Hill, a sister Janet Ogden, and brothers, Ralph Alsup and Melvin Hill.
Bruce was born in Benton Harbor, MI, and had been a Joliet resident most of his life. He was employed at Caterpillar. He was a Vietman War Veteran, member of American Legion Harwood Post # 5. Bruce was a Master of Marshall Arts and was a Forth Degree Black Belt. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 1, 2001, at 7 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday at 3 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Blackburn-Giegerich-Sanntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Road, near Midland in charge. 815-744-4444.
