He was born on May 9, 1945, in Fond du Lac, the son of LeRoy and Ethel Schutze Abitz Sr. He was a graduate of Rosendale High School, and served in the United States Army Reserve. On May 1, 1965, he married Betty C. Buchta, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lomira. She preceded him in death on November 4, 2020.
Kenneth worked in sales at Schwan's Ice Cream, retiring after 34 years of service. He was a golden glove boxer. He loved golfing, and was a member of Oak Green Golf Course. Kenneth enjoyed camping and hunting with his son and family, was an avid bingo player, and watching the Milwaukee Bucks and Milwaukee Brewers. Kenneth loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play baseball. Kenneth was a member of Holy Family Parish – Sacred Heart Church.
He is survived by his children: Michelle Abitz of Fond du Lac, Kent (Theresa) Abitz of Howards Grove; grandchildren: Elizabeth A. Schultz and Katelyn B. (Brittany) Schultz; three great grandchildren: Aden, Klaus and Frankie; his brothers: LeRoy (Shirley) Abitz Jr. and Alvin (Lynn) Abitz both of Fond du Lac; his special sister Christine Humleker of Eldorado, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, an infant son, infant grandson Francis, and siblings: David, Ethel and Joyce.
Private family services will be held at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery. A Celebration of Ken's life will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
