The 1880 census taker indicated she was by then considered "insane". The family was then living in Buffalo, Caldwell county.
Her marker number 123 indicates that she was the 123rd patient admitted to the new Western NC asylum after it opened in the Spring of 1883. Most of the people admitted that soon after the asylum opened came there in transfer from the NC asylum in Raleigh. However, she may have been among the first admitted from home once the NCIA transfers had been completed.
