My great-grandmother Fannie Danovitch was born in Russia. She was the daughter of Gesua (Joshua) Danovitch and Feiga (Freida) Schlover. She came to the US in about 1894.

She was married to Max Abrahams Apr 3, 1905 in Manhatten. They were parents to 3 sons.

When I first started researching my family history, I corresponded with my great Uncle Jesse who was the only son left alive at the time. Uncle Jesse told me his mother was born in England as was his father. I found out years later that this wasn't true - they were Russian immigrants. His father's parents had stopped in England for a time and one son WAS born there - in Whitechapel. My guess is that my great-grandmother was ashamed of being an immigrant and so said that they came from England. After all, who was going to know any difference.
