The Rev. A.B. Kellam, age 85 of the Hopewell Community in Red River Co., died Thursday, January 10 in Wadley Hospital in Texarkana. Brother Kellam was the Minister for Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church for 45 years. He was born on November 24, 1922 in Kaufman Co., TX., to Brazier and Betty Grimes Kellam. Brother Kellam served in the U.S. Navy and was attached to the 1st U.S. Marine Division in the South Pacific during WWII. He was preceded in death by a brother; Rupert Kellam.

Survivors include his wife; Verda Prewitt Kellam. They were married on July 21, 1946 at the New Haven Missionary Baptist Church. Three sons; Danny Kellam of Texarkana, Mike Kellam of Clarksville and Ronnie Kellam of Texarkana. Four grandchildren; Cindee Bowen, Jeff Kellam, Jared Kellam, and Dena Kellam. Two step-grandchildren; Patrick Kellam, and Shawn Kellam. Three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 2:00pm at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev's James Brown, John Bryant and Ken Ashlock officiating. Visitation will be Saturday night from 6 to 8pm at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Chris, Greg, Audie, Lang, Scott, and Ricky Prewitt, Russell Smith, and Richard Masterson. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Pastors of the Red River-Bowie Missionary Baptist Association, and the Deacons and men of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, and Ladies Auxiliary of ETMC Clarksville. Burial will follow, with full Military Honors, in New Haven Cemetery, under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
