Dateline-Boscobel Veteran-Korea Conflict Virgil L. Ritchie, age 94 of Boscobel, passed away on Tuesday November 14, 2023 at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing in Fennimore. He was born July 24, 1929 in Haney Township, Crawford County Wisconsin. The son of Alfred and Lucy (Taft) Ritchie. She married Maxine Swenson on December 20, 1956 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua Iowa. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2021. Virgil and Maxine lived in the Verona area for many years. He worked at University of Wisconsin Dairy Department. He worked making Ice Cream for Babcock Hall for 34 years before retiring and moving back to their home town of Boscobel Wisconsin. After his retiring, he enjoyed wood crafting, garage sales, and visiting with family and friends. He is survived by a sister Eileen (Clarence) Kuehni of Blue River. Several Nieces and Nephews. Two sisters in laws; Margaret Ritchie of Boscobel, and Gloria Swenson of Boscobel. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Jim, Alvin, Floyd, Lavon, Royal, and Ron Ritchie. One sister, Iliff Bell. He was also preceded in death, by his in-laws, Harvey Swenson, and Vivian and Joe Sopher. Funeral Services will be held on Friday November 17, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel. Glen Gasser and Linda Woollun officiating. Burial in the Boscobel Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday November 17, 2023 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel. Military honors will be accorded by the Blake-Semrad American Legion Post #134 and the Gilbertson Pitzer Radley VFW post #10393 both of Boscobel. In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to Agrace Hospice or the Boscobel Rescue Squad.
