Hazel Ruth Bonham
Hazel Ruth Bonham, a longtime Okmulgee resident, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning, April 13, 2008 at the age of 86 years. Hazel was born on May 23, 1921
in Krebs, Oklahoma to Calvin and Mathie Martha Jane (Ashing) White.
Hazel was married to Greeley Bonham on October 1, 1938 in Lubbock, TX. She remained married to Greeley until he passed in 1974. Hazel has lived in Okmulgee since 1949. While living in Okmulgee, Hazel served as the dietary supervisor at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1988 after 38 years of faithful service to the hospital and staff.
She was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God church and she loved listening to Christian music, reading from the Bible and camping.
She was preceded in death by both her mother and father; her husband, Greeley; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Hazel is survived by a son, Virgil Bonham, Sr. of Morris; a granddaughter, Tammy Bonham of Gore, OK; 3 grandsons, Virgil Bonham, Jr. of Okmulgee, Gregory Bonham of Okmulgee and Dennis Bonham of Morris; 6 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, 5 step grandchildren, 16 step great grandchildren and 2 step great great grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Mccullar of Antlers, OK; and a special friend Phyllis "Baby" Radcliff.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Okmulgee Cemetery with Chaplain Stephanie Sargeant officiating. Interment will follow immediately under the direction of Shurden Funeral home of Okmulgee.
Visitation will be at Shurden Funeral Home Tuesday from 9AM to 8PM and Wednesday from 9AM to Noon.
Pallbearers will be Billy Scroggins, Jimmy Scroggins, Gregory Bonham, Johnny Schmidt, Bobby Hann and Kenneth Radcliff.
