Ed O'Haver, 92, Dies at Hospital
Edward O'Haver, 92, retired superintendent of the Bartholomew County home, died today at Bartholomew County Hospital. He lived at 1721 South 31A.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Reed Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Jack Prather and Dr. Ard Hoven. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Persons may call after noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
Born in Bartholomew County Aug. 5, 1876, Mr. O'Haver was the son of James and Melinda Durham O'Haver. He married the former Effie Wray in 1897 and she died Nov. 12, 1932. Nov. 24, 1936, he married the former Mrs. Lola Mae Peek.
Mr. O'Haver served at the county home for 27 years before retiring as superintendent in 1955. In 1950 Mr. O'Haver received the Junior Chamber of Commerce Good Government award. He was a member of the Christian Church and was a former conductor on the old interurban line.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Mable Long of 251 Beatty Lane; a stepson, William C. Peek of 1956 South 31A; several grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother and several sisters.
