Mr. Jerry Dorsey Shores, 70, died at the State Veterans Homes in Collins March 27, 2008. Visitation will be Sunday, March 30, 2008, at 1 p.m. until services at 2 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Interment will be in Garden of Memories.
Mr. Shores was a US Navy veteran and he had resided in Collins for the last four years after coming from Pineville, LA where he had been a caregiver for his wife for many years. He had previously worked as a welder for International Paper. He enjoyed outdoors, planting trees, and playing chess. He was greatly loved by family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia "Patty" Shores.
He is survived by a son, Terry Shores of Summerville, GA; a daughter, Kristine (Charles) Tucker of Florence; sister, Vautice Pearson of Rome, GA; two granddaughters and one grandson.
