~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Keith Leo Cason-Gossett, 55, of Waverly and formerly of Jefferson City, MO passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. He was born October 23, 1968, in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of Stanley and Gail Kostrzak Cason-Gossett. He married Diane Roegge on October 1, 2010, in Eminence, Missouri, and she survives.
Keith is also survived by his mother, Gail Cason-Gossett of Shawano, Wisconsin; one brother, Tim (Jane) Cason-Gossett of Appleton, Wisconsin; two nieces, Shannon and Kelsey, and two great-nephews, Alexander and Zachary.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Keith's family moved to Wisconsin when he was just six months old, and it was there that he completed his schooling and learned the value of hard work. As a young man he enjoyed neighborhood games of ice-hockey, playing basketball, cross country skiing, and biking. Eventually, his career as a bridge inspector took him from Missouri to Illinois, then Texas, and finally back to Illinois. He was fearless in his work and enjoyed the travels involved with his career. Whether he was hanging over the side of a bridge over a river in a bucket, on a lift 200 feet in the air above traffic, or being challenged by fire ants, alligators, or border patrol, Keith was calm and in control.
Keith was an avid fan of automobiles, whether he was driving on a trip, tinkering in his garage, or participating in car shows. He especially loved tinkering on Volkswagens, Thunderbirds, and later, mini-Coopers. He played volleyball for many years, and it was his love of the sport that led him to meeting his wife, Diane. As Keith began to face medical challenges in recent years, he kept a positive outlook and cherished the time he spent with family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends from 12 Noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the Wounded Warrior Project.
