James Garl Beard, aged 73, of 1115 Rice Street, a retired engineer for the Missouri Pacific Lines, died Thursday at a Little Rock hospital. Mr. Beard was a native of Higginson (White County) and was a son of the late Thomas and Josephine Brown Beard. He was a member of the Mabelvale Baptist Church and of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers 182. He had worked for the Missouri Pacific for 45 years before retiring in 1952. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Telia Johnson Beard; a son, James Garl Beard Jr. of Tucson, Ari.; three daughters, Mrs. J. Frank Parks of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. O. K. Philson of Bossier City, La., and Mrs. Catherine Mosley of Houston,
Tex, and nine grandchildren. Funeral arrangernents will be announced by Ruebel Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Mabelvale
Baptist Church.
