Towner was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a supervisor of scheduling and shipping for Armco Inc., before he retired in 1981. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Belton United Methodist Church.
Surviving is a brother, Forrest A. Towner, of Kansas City.
