Thomas Wiley Olive enlisted in Co. A, 12th Louisiana Infantry, on March 1, 1862 at Coushatta, Louisiana. Although his muster rolls are incomplete, the Beulah Methodist Church records of Natchitoches Parish state that he died at Vicksburg.

Thomas was the son of William Olive, Sr. & wife Eveline Gallaway Olive from Attala County, Mississippi. They had migrated to Natchitoches, Louisiana by 1860, then to Bosque County, Texas in 1867. Death dates & places of burial of William & Eveline are unknown.
