Edward "Eddie" Paul Hawkins was born to Theresa O'Donoghue Hawkins and Odress Duvall ("O.D.") Hawkins of Vine Grove, KY on Wednesday, June 23, 1954. He passed away peacefully at the age of 69 surrounded by his family and friends on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 6:23 p.m.

He was a 1972 graduate of North Hardin High School where he was a three-sport athlete and inducted into the inaugural class of the NHHS Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007. He went on to earn his Civil Engineering degree from the University of Kentucky in 1976. After college he pursued a career in civil engineering and land surveying and owned his own engineering consulting firm for over 35 years. If you have been anywhere around Hardin County or the surrounding counties, you have probably seen one of the projects he proudly designed (Lowes, Walmart, John Hardin High School – just to name a few). He loved his work and continued to do so even into his final days.

Eddie was a character from the moment he was able to talk. He dearly loved to make people laugh. Anyone he encountered was sure to enjoy one of his many jokes, accompanied by that classic twinkle in his eye. Spending time with his kids and watching them play golf was one of the greatest joys. He loved being with friends, sharing a Coca Cola Classic and a joke with anyone he encountered.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Theresa and O.D. Hawkins; sisters, Diana Jaggers, Carolyn Joyce, Delores Hawkins, and brother, Ray Hawkins.; nephew, Mark Jaggers; and a great nephew, Jeffrey Brown.

He is survived by his daughter, Tara Hawkins, of Elizabethtown and his son, Troy Hawkins (Kim) also of Elizabethtown; sister, Barbara Zupon, of Florida; brother, Larry Hawkins (Karen), of Elizabethtown; brother-in-law, LeRoy Jaggers and sister-in-law Tina Hawkins, both of Louisville; Denise Hawkins, of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren, Bella, Will, Wade, Weston, & Waryck; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, November 10, 2023 and from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 11, 2023. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 11th at 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside burial at St. Brigid cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his mom, dad, and sister.
