Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today in Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with Joe Tom Bement officiating.
Jane Virginia Husband passed from this earth to her eternal home in heaven on April 14, 2008. She was born March 16, 1932, in Washington, D.C. She grew up in Maryland and later met and married Douglas E. Husband. Together they established their home in Amarillo. Jane was a homemaker who was most proud of raising her two sons, Rick and Keith, who both shared a love of flying. She was a gifted artist and treasured friend to many. In her life she showed true courage and great strength amidst tremendous heartbreak when her eldest son preceded her in death in the Space Shuttle Columbia Tragedy. She was a woman of great character and faith. Jane spent her last years in Houston living close to her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Douglas E. Husband; and her eldest son, Rick D. Husband.
She is survived by her youngest son, Keith and his wife, Kathy; Evelyn Thompson; and two grandchildren, Laura and Matthew of Houston; her sister and brother-in-law, Josie and George Drank of Maryland; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eugene and Barbara Baker of Oklahoma; three nieces and a nephew; and many friends.
The family suggests memorials be in lieu of flowers to the Odyssey Healthcare Foundation for Sky Camp, 6900 W. Interstate 40, Suite, 150, Amarillo, TX 79106.
