CASSADA FAUNTELLA July 18, 1926 - July 22, 2002 Faunnie was born in Winslow, Indiana and spent her youth in Southern Indiana and Hollywood, Florida. She attended Evansville University on a voice scholarship and there, she met her husband, "Eddie." In 1946, they were married. Ed had just returned home after being a pilot in the Flying Tigers during World War II. Faunnie's wedding dress was made from his silk parachute. Together they raised five children in a home filled with love, happiness and fun! The family moved to California in 1967 and, in 1992, after the kids were all married and settled, Faunnie and Ed moved to Palm Desert. There her gardening skills flourished. She was very popular with Ed's softball teammates for the great luncheons she put on. Her great cooking, beautiful garden, quick wit, and kind heart will be our treasured memories. She is survived her her husband Ed; by four daughters: Susan Bellig and husband John of Danville; Carolyn Ortega of Columbus, Ohio; Linda Hunt and her husband David of Plano, Texas; and Ann Noriel and husband Les of Duarte, Calif.; and by son William Barnett Cassada of Salinas, California. She is also survived by sister Martha Ann Dixon and her husband Wendall of Evansville, Indiana; as well as 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at 7 p.m. at Neighborhood Church, Chapel, 20600 John Drive, Castro Valley, CA 94546, the Rev. Gabriel Otero officiating. A private burial for family only will follow on Thursday, July 25, at 11 a.m. at Lone Tree Cemetery in Hayward. "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth but the word of God shall stand forever."
