ELWYN "Swede" J. GLOVER, 77, of Lincoln passed away on October 10, 2014 at Bryan East surrounded by his family after a sudden battle with cancer. Elwyn was born in Pilger, NE to Franklin and Ellen (Gemelke) Glover on Nov. 5, 1936; baptized at St. John's Lutheran in 1938 and confirmed in 1951. Graduating Pilger High in 1955 he served 3 ½ years in the US Army based in Germany and France in the Artillery Missile Brigade. A beloved father and husband he was joined in marriage to Mary Negley in June, 1962; together they raised two children. He retired from Quebecor in 2004.

Elwyn served in the early years of Lincoln Lutheran Formation; served six years with the Orphan Grain Train in Lincoln; League President of Lincoln Midget Football since 1983; refereed High School Football for many years; umpired Triple A Softball at Ballard Field; served as Scout Master of Troop 24; worked on the Board of Properties for Cornhusker Council; he was an Elder at his church, taught Sunday School for many years; received many awards for his community service; enjoyed working with young people and loved the Lord.

Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Verilyn; and sister, Marlee Willis.

Survived by his wife Mary; daughter Suzanne (Chris) Walla of Bellevue; son, Brian (Gina) Glover of Lincoln; brothers, Bob (Darlene) of Oregon, Nordell of Kansas, and Darwyn (Pat) of Dakota City, NE; grandchildren, Andrew and Jeanette Glover of Lincoln, and Nicole Walla of Bellevue; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 18, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2001 S. 11th St., Lincoln with Rev. Jeffrey Bloom officiating. Family burial will be at a later date. Memorials are suggested to: Lincoln Midget Football, Red Cross Lincoln Chapter, Boy Scouts of America Cornhusker, Lincoln Lutheran High School, or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
