21 Apr 2007: Francis R. "Jack" Haffley, 85, of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, formerly of Erie and Centre Hall, died Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona. Born on Jan. 25, 1922, in Aaronsburg, he was the son of the late James Z. and Amanda E. Haffley. On Oct. 2, 1955, he married Bernice Irene Guisewhite, who preceded him in death on Oct. 2, 2003. Francis was a graduate of East Penns Valley High School. He worked at the Hammermill in Erie and was a photographer. He enjoyed sporting events, NASCAR, and was especially interested in all Pennsylvania sports. He was a volunteer photographer for the Brookside Fire Company and the Belleville Fire Company, both companies of Erie County. Francis was also a veteran of World War II. Francis is survived by a daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Waechter, of Centre Hall; a grandson, Darrell; and a brother, Dale Haffley of Erie. Along with his parents and wife, Francis was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Danni M. Waechter, in 1984. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, in Reformed Cemetery, Aaronsburg. [Centre Daily]
