On Saturday, September 9, 2023, Melvin Gerald "Jerry" Van Orman passed away at the age of 85 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born on May 22, 1938 in Seattle, Washington to Melvin Welker Van Orman (1910-1987) and Marcella Matilda Hills Van Orman (1910-1985).
Jerry received a Master's Degree from the University of Utah in Industrial Psychology. After working in the market research field in Minneapolis, Minnesota he returned to Salt Lake City and was employed by the State of Utah Department of Health for more than 30 years in Emergency Medical Services and as an Information Analyst.
On June 5, 1961 he married Suzanne Bailey in Salt Lake City, Utah. They raised three sons, Eric Gerald Van Orman, Michael John Van Orman, and Bradley David Van Orman. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Suzanne; his brother John Frederick and J. Lynne Thomas Van Orman and their children, Kristen, Jason Paul, Denise, Meagan, John David, and Jordan Thomas Van Orman; his sons; and his grandchildren through Bradley, Sierra Dawn Van Orman, Dillon Bradley Van Orman and Lindsey Ann Van Orman.
Jerry was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Salt Lake Mount Olympus Stake, Olympus Hills Ward. He served an honorable mission to France and Belgium.
A Viewing will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Mortuary. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
