Mrs. Lena E. Byers, 58, of 415 Mill St., died at 12:55 p.m. Friday at Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. she had been taken there from her home shortly before by the city emergency squad. Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Ware Funeral Home with the Rev. Noah sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Monday. Born March 14, 1918, at Ligon, Ky., she was the daughter of Jeffrey and Matilda Hamilton Reynolds. On Sept 2, 1847, she was married to Harry M. Byers who survives. Also surviving are four children, Miss Linda Byers, at home; Nicholas Byers, Columbus, and Jerry and Harry Byers, at home; six children by a previous marriage, Mrs. Warren (Juanita) Hestekin, Batavia, ILL., Donald Brown, Route 6, Larry Brown, Cicero, ILL., John Brown, Chillicothe, and Philip Stewart, Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Maudie Meade and Mrs. Ruby Akers, both of Dayton, Mrs. Monie Damron, Michigan, Mrs. Madge Spurgin, Kentucky, and Mrs Joanne Whipp, Canton; and five brothers Calvin Reynolds, Kentucky, Oscar Reynolds, Ashland, Ky., William Reynolds, Paintsville, Ky., and Gaylord Reynolds, Dayton. She was predeceased by a son Stanley, and five brothers and sisters.
