Frank was born Frans Gustaf Andersson. He preferred the Americanized name of Frank. Prior to leaving Sweden the family changed their last name to a less common and more elegant Åhlström or Ahlstrom. He was born in Wånge Elfsborgs L. Wästergötland Sweden October 2 1853. His parents were Andres Darrson and Majä Britta Svorset. He had 1 sister Emma. He immigrated to America in 1876 and married Johanna Magnusdotter in 1883. They settled in Kearney Nebraska and had 11 children. In approximately 1902 they moved to Upsala to be near Johanna's Sister Kristina Marie Peterson. They had one more child after arriving in Upsala. Of their 12 children 4 died very young, After arriving in Upsala they purchased land adjacent to Johanna's sister Kristina Marie. There he lived out his life farming until his death at age 79 in 1933. He was a member of the Swedish Covenant church and is buried there beside his wife Johanna.
