"James W. Allen, Sr., 86, formerly of Kansas City, died Saturday in Las Vegas, Nev. He was born in Kentucky and had lived here 28 years before moving to Las Vegas in 1952. Mr. Allen was a retired salesman. Surviving are two sons, James W. Allen, Jr., of Wyandotte County, and Richard L. Allen of Kansas City; three daughters, Mrs. Harriet E. Davis of the home, Mrs. Rosemond Witherup of Richland, Wash., and Mrs. Edyth Kendall of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Paxton of Slater, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday at the Newcomer Chapel, Brush Creek and the Paseo; burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery." The Kansas City Times, April 22, 1963
