Geraldine Moore Myers Ekers died on 23 October 2023, in Waynesburg, PA; she was 97.

Geraldine was born on 7 September 1926, at the home of her maternal grandparents, Peter and Christina Shriver Moore, in Brave, PA. She was the youngest child of Everett Edward Myers and Louisa "Louie" Lea Moore. She graduated Waynesburg High School (later known as Margaret Bell Miller Middle School) in 1944 and married Harold William King in 1945; they later divorced.

While working in Scottsdale, AZ, she met Ora Lee Ekers: they married in 1967 and moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan, where they lived until his death in 1983; soon thereafter she returned to Waynesburg, where she spent the remaining years of her life with her daughter.

She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers football team; fistfights broke out amongst her grandchildren over the last bit of her potato salad, and her skill at marbles was legendary. Her compassion for animals led to purchasing winter feed for the local deer and adding apples to the mix, to the delight of the wildlife and the despair of the deer population management agency.

In addition to her parents and husband, Geraldine was preceded in death by her siblings Everett Edward Myers, Jr. and Betty Myers Gray, and half-siblings Linda Myers Mosley and David Myers. She is survived by her daughter Constance Cumberledge of Waynesburg, PA; sons Albert and Randal King; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

A private burial will be held at a later date; no services are planned. A celebration of life will be held in late May.

Memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA.
