Barbara Morrow Coker, 73, of Brasstown passed away Monday, September 21, 2015. She was a native of Turtletown, Tennessee. She then married Dean Edward Cardin of Hiawassee, Georgia and moved to the Atlanta, Georgia area at 17 years of age where she lived for 20 years while raising her children. Barbara returned home in 1986. She was a very active volunteer with the Pregnancy & Parenting Center and spoke in many churches on their behalf. She also volunteered at Mount Liberty Baptist Church with the Hope for the Hungry program. She remained active at Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church where she was a member. She liked keeping fit and working in the garden. Barbaras greatest pleasure was going to garage sales. She was the daughter of the late Creed Levi and Alene Georgia Taylor Morrow and the wife of the late George Ervin, who died August 12, 2008. Surviving are her husband, Leroy Coker; a daughter, Dedra Erwin and husband, Todd of Matthews, North Carolina; two sons, Daniel Cardin of Woodstock, Georgia and Dennis L. Cardin of Brasstown; three sisters, Gloria Rice of Charlotte, North Carolina, Phyllis Duggan of Turtletown, Tennessee, and Karen Collis and husband, Jim of Copperhill, Tennessee; a brother, Dwight Morrow and wife, Jane of Woodstock, Georgia; and four grandchildren, James Posey, Emily Erwin, Tyler Erwin, and Jack Erwin. A Celebration of Life was held at 5:00 PM Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Chester Jones, Rev. Chris Furl, and Rev. Dick Richards officiating. The family received friends from 3-5 Saturday afternoon at Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Barbara Morrow Coker to the Pregnancy & Parenting Center, PO Box 866, Andrews, NC 28901. Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy in charge of all arrangements.
