MARY A. ALLEN, 95, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in LittleRock. She was born March 21, 1913, to William S. Allen and Winifred Boosey Allen, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Mt. St. Mary Academy and received a law degree from Columbus University in Washington, D.C.

Her distinguished career, which spanned more than 40 years, included service in the federal court system in Sioux City, Iowa, and Little Rock. She served as secretary/ administrator to The Honorable J. Smith Henley, United States Circuit Judge, Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, and retired in 1972.

She was a founding member of the Association of Women Lawyers and an active member of the Catholic Business Women's Club. A member of Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church for more than 50 years, she was involved in numerous organizations and activities. She dedicated many volunteer hoursto the St. Vincent Infirmary Auxiliary and Helping Hand, a Catholic organization serving low income citizens.

Aunt Mary was an avid reader who particularly loved poetry. Her extensive travels included visits to the British Isles, France, China, the Holy Land, Jordan, Mexico and Peru.

She was preceded in death by a sister Louise Allen Rohan and brothers William S. Allen, Monsignor Francis A. Allen, Trieber T. Allen and Charles A. Allen; nephews Francis A. Allen II and Robert Scott Allen, and great nephew James H. Larrison III. Survivors include Gloria Allen (Mrs. Charles A.), sister-in-law, and nieces and nephews Margaret W.Rohan of Little Rock; James Edward Rohan of Cincinnati, Ohio; Chris Allen of Helena; Charles (Chad) Allen of Ledbetter, Texas; Diane Allen of Perry County; Richard Allen of Paris, France; Penny Allen of Denver, Colorado; Mark Allen of Sherwood; 20 great nieces and nephews, and 9 great-great nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church on Saturday, April 19, at 11 a.m., with Monsignor Lawrence Frederick officiating. A rosary service and visitation will be held at Griffin-Leggett Healey & Roth on Friday, April 18, at 7 p.m. Internment will be at Calvary Cemetery
