Kenneth L. Gabbard, 79 of Beaver Dam, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023, in Hartford, KY. The Ohio County native was born to the late Leonard J. Gabbard Sr. and the late Laura Pearl Lloyd Gabbard on March 6, 1944. In March of 1966, he joined the Marine Corps where he would serve his country in Vietnam. After three years of service, he would return home to Ohio County. He held several jobs, a dispatcher for the Courier Journal in Louisville and eventually became a self-employed truck driver.
Besides his parents he preceded in death by his only daughter Sheila Gramlin as well as a sister Carol Rhea Gabbard, brother Stanley Gabbard and sister-in-law Deloris Gabbard. He is survived by two grandchildren, David Gramlin and Diana Gramlin; two brothers Leonard J. Gabbard Jr (Betty), Eddie Gabbard and a sister Lana Moseley (Paul), three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 10:00 AM CT, Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Hartford Memorial Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM CT, Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Hartford Memorial Funeral Chapel with burial in the Carson Cemetery, Hartford, KY. Military rites will be performed by the Amvets Post KY 0117.

He was a senior at Western Kentucky University majoring in Animal Husbandry when he joined the Marines.
Served in the United States Marine Corp and was a Sargent when discharged and received a Purple Heart.
Ken's only daughter was married to my son.
