Longtime Bellingham resident Thomas J. Aughe passed away peacefully on October 25, 2023, following a brief illness. He was 89.

Mr. Aughe served proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1956. He joined the US Navy in 1956 and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1974. Mr. Aughe served honorably in Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from military service, Mr. Aughe graduated from Western Washington University. He was among the first bus drivers employed by Whatcom Transportation Authority, where he drove for several years. Mr. Aughe knew many of his passengers by name, loved to swap stories, and regarded many as friends. Mr. Aughe was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Mr. Aughe is survived by his son Everett Brent Aughe; stepdaughters Holly Hunt (Gary) and Kimberly Trone; granddaughters Samantha Killen and Nicole Baciuna; brother Fred Aughe; sisters Dot Halderman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Patricia Aughe, parents Everett and Ruth; sisters Bobbie and Lonnie, and brother John "Bunk."

Mr. Aughe will be interred at noon, Wednesday, Nov. 1st at Ten Mile Cemetery in Lynden.
