Blanch Alberta (Potter) Harnish of Alexandria died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, at Embassy of Huntingdon Park.

Born Sept. 15, 1925, in Catharine Township, Blair County, Blanch was the daughter of Daniel Homer and Beryl (Griffith) Potter.

Blanch was united in marriage to Robert Earl Harnish June 1, 1947, at the Alexandria Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Harry L. Geissinger. Robert preceded her in death Feb. 4, 2011.

Mrs. Harnish is survived by two daughters, Karen E. McNamara of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, and Patricia E. Brown of Mifflintown; two granddaughters, Kristina L. (McNamara) Reed and husband, David, of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, and Dr. Rachel E. Brown and husband, Patrick Fitzgerald, of Abington; and three great-grandsons, David, Kole and Kamden Reed of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. Additionally, Mrs. Harnish was blessed with two loving nieces and a nephew, Denise (Potter) Feeley of Pickerington, Ohio, Lanette (Potter) Bridgman of Essex, England, and Van Sullivan of Huntsville, Alabama.

Blanch was preceded in death by her brother, Wallace Potter, and her sister, Ethel Potter Sullivan.

Mrs. Harnish was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Alexandria. She was a lifelong member of Hartslog Valley Grange and Pomona and National Granges. She was also a member of Standing Stone Senior Center, Huntingdon.

Mrs. Harnish was a 1943 graduate of the Williamsburg High School.

She lived in Elizabethtown for five years where her husband was poultryman at the Masonic Homes. Later, she and her husband purchased a poultry farm in Morris Township where they produced eggs until her husband retired. She had been employed by Owens-Corning Fiberglas and by Mead Corp..

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family with the guidance of the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home of Huntingdon.
