Donna J. Matteson, a beloved figure in her community, passed away on October 19, 2023, in Morris, Illinois. Born on November 24, 1947, in Sandwich, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Pete and Laura (Glover) Erio. Donna lived a life full of creativity, intelligence, and love, touching many lives with her warmth and generosity.

Donna was a proud graduate of Morris High School, class of 1965. Donna was married to Robert Matteson for 40 years, raising their 2 children together in Morris. She would later remarry to Warren Olson and celebrate 9 years of marriage with him. Her passion for business and love for her community led her to own and operate the Strawberry Plant Boutique for over 48 years. Her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to her business were admired by many and contributed significantly to the local economy.

Beyond her business, Donna dedicated much of her time to public service. She served as an Alderman for the City of Morris, a Grundy County Board Member, and was actively involved in the Public Building Commission. Her leadership skills and commitment to community improvement were evident in her roles as President of the Jr. Women's Club and the Rotary Club. She also contributed significantly to the Starpath Program and the Riverfront Development Commission. Her dedication to these roles showcased her intelligence and her love for her community.

Donna's interests extended beyond her professional life, reflecting her creative spirit. She was an exceptional cook, delighting friends and family with her culinary creations. She also had a keen eye for art and a green thumb, which was evident in her beautifully curated garden. These interests revealed Donna's artistic side, which she generously shared with those around her.

Donna is survived by her husband Warren; loving children, Amy (John) Peacock and Scott Matteson and several stepchildren; her granddaughter Grace; her siblings, Pete Erio, Laurie (Steve) Provancal, and Steve (Janet) Erio. Donna was a cherished aunt to her nieces and nephews, Pete, Nick, Gina, Laura, Dereck, Maria, Brent, Matthew, and Mis. Her great-nieces and nephews, Aidan, Kieran, Laurali, Livia, and Bentley, will remember their great aunt's stories and lessons with fondness.
