Joanne K. Frankenfeld
August 14, 1934 - October 19, 2023

Joanne K Butts Frankenfeld was born on August 14, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan and passed away peacefully in the comfort of loved ones on October 19, 2023 in Plano, Texas. Joanne was the only child to parents, Berry and Barbara Smith. She graduated from Detroit Normal College and became an early elementary teacher. She met and married Donald G. Butts in 1954 and they eventually relocated to Indiana, California, Arizona and finally to Texas where Joanne has lived for more than 60 years. Joanne was an avid gardener who could bring any ailing plant back to life, she loved boating on lake Nocona, puzzles of any kind and she never met a card game she did not like, especially bridge, cribbage and pinochle.

A devoted and loving wife, Joanne was married 31 years to Donald. After his unexpected passing in 1984, Joanne later met Phil Frankenfeld, they were married in 2001 and enjoyed 10 wonderful years together before his passing in 2011. Equally important, Joanne was a loving and committed mother to sons, Gregory S Butler of Fairview, TX, Steven E Butler of McKinney, TX and daughter Carolyn J Bachmann of The Colony, TX. Best of all was her love for her grandchildren, Michael Butler, Hillary Butler Painter, Brian Bachmann, Brittany Butler Shannon, Cody Gajak and Parker Gajak. Joanne also loved her 7 great grandchildren: JT, Ethan and Mackenzie Painter, Addison, Carter and Grady Bachmann and Pearlie Shannon. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents Berry and Barbara Smith, spouses Donald and Phil.

She is survived by her son Greg, wife Susan, her son Steven, wife Leslie, Daughter Carolyn, husband Jerry, and 6 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Joanne's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all her doctors, nurses and caregivers at Legacy at Willowbend in Plano, and especially Ms. Mira Kang, her companion caregiver for the past 2 ½ years of her life.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date with internment at Whispering Waters at Restland. Any contributions in Joanne's memory are requested to be made to Scottish Rite Hospital or the charity of your choice.
