Funeral services for Gustave Jean "G.J." Courrege Jr.,
69, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, from Our Lady Help of
Christians Catholic Church.
Monsignor Vincent A. Sedita will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Visitation is 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. today, with a Scripture service at 7 p.m.
and a rosary recitation led by the Knights of Columbus at 8 p.m.
Visitation continues from 8 a.m. Monday.
Mr. Courrege died at 12:32 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, in the
Jennings hospital.
A native of Vinton, he had lived in Jennings for 46 years. He graduated
from Vinton High School in 1946 and received his bachelor's degree in
pharmacology from the University of Texas at Austin. He was the
former owner of Phenix Rexall Drugs, worked as a pharmacist at the
Jennings Winn Dixie and was a member of the Louisiana State
Pharmacy Association. He was a former member and past president of
the Kiwanis Club, a member and past grand knight of the Knights
Council 2012 and was a member and past faithful navigator for the
fourth-degree Knights Monsignor Peters General Assembly. A papal
and diocesan honoree, he received the Devoted Service Medal. He
was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church and
was a board member of Calvary Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Marion Bond Courrege of Jennings; two
daughters, Ann Boudreaux of Erath and Laury Courrege of Jennings;
and four sons, Mark Courrege of Houston, Gary Courrege of Lake
Charles, Paul Courrege of Baton Rouge and Brent Courrege of
Jennings.
