Beattyville, KY - 1 May 2000 - Patton Brandenburg, 74, of Southfork (Lee County), husband of Leona Hymer Brandenburg, passed away Monday, May 1, 2000, at the Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born September 30, 1925, in Lee County, Kentucky, to the late David P. and Fancy McIntosh Brandenburg. He was a retired coal miner and a farmer.

Along with his wife, he is survived by four sons, Walton Brandenburg, Booneville, Kentucky, Troy Gene, Ronnie Patton, and Lewis Brandenburg, all of Beattyville, Kentucky; three daughters, Stella Brandenburg and Lucinda Caudell, both of Beattyville, Kentucky and Della Lewis of Winchester, Kentucky; and two stepsons, Fairley Becknell of Richmond, Kentucky and Mike Bicknell of Irvine, Kentucky.

Also surviving are seven grandsons, Phillip, David, Mark, Greg, Timothy, Michael, and Don Ed. Jr. Brandenburg; ten granddaughters, Rita Caudill, Mary Spicer, Melissa Brandenburg, Gean Ann Riley, Sarah Rodgers, Sunshine Lucas, and Ashley, Jennifer, Amanda and Lewissa Brandenburg; 18 great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren, Ken, Greg, Jay and John Bicknell and two step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Madeline McIntosh Brandenburg, a son, Don Edward Brandenburg, Sr., and a grandson, Ray Brandenburg.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 4, 2000, 2:00 p.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home with Rev. Buck McIntosh and Rev. Eugene Webb officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday evening at the funeral home, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Burial in the Brandenburg Cemetery, Bailey Gap, (Lee County) Kentucky, with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be his seven grandsons, Phillip, David, Mark, Greg, Timothy, Michael and Don Ed Jr. Brandenburg. The honorary pallbearers will be his four step grandsons, Ken Greg, Jay and John Bicknell.
