Funeral for Mary Lavern Hogan Armstrong, 90. Of Vinemont (Battleground) was Wednesday, July 28 at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem West Baptist Church in Cullman County with the Revs. Thomas Reeves and Billy Gable officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Armstrong died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Feb. 8, 1914, in Morgan County to J. R. Frank Hogan and Sarah Elizabeth Chenault Hogan. She attended Pleasant View Holy Church of Christ and in later years Macedonia Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, F.M. "Melvin" Armstrong.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Hill and husband Leon of Moulton, Peggy Staples and husband Bobby of Herdon, Va., and Judy Schultz and husband Benes of Battleground; one sister-in-law, Helen Hogan Greer; one brother-in-law, Emmett Armstrong and wife Irene; five grandchildren, Phillip Hill and wife Rhonda, Vickie Shadden and husband Steve, Tammy Ray and husband Eugene, Tracy Powell and husband Steve, and Kristi Vincent and husband Joe; and eight great grandchildren, Leslie Shadden, Hannah Shadden, Cody Ray, Austin Ray, Tyler Powell, Taylor Powell, Payton Vincent and Tristen Vincent.

Pallbearers were Steve Shadden, Eugene Ray, Steve Powell, Joe Vincent, Scott Hogan, David Hogan, Bill Helton and Neil Buckelew.

The family would like to recognize two people that were really close to mom and helped her everyday, Zora Orr and Susie Williams, and a host of friends and loved ones.
