Kyle Robert Cannon, born Nov 15, 1961, passed away the evening of Oct 8, 2023 after suffering a heart attack. Born in Logan, UT, to Virginia Bateman and Norman Steffensen Cannon, he was the youngest of four sons. Kyle graduated from Logan High School and went on to receive a Bachelors in Computer Science from Utah State University. After school, he worked as a software engineer for several different companies during his career, including ATK Thiokol, where he helped to redesign the space shuttle rocket boosters after the Challenger disaster, Par T Golf where he helped design the "The Incredible Golf Machine", and at Hill Air Force Base. He had the opportunity to travel frequently for work and Australia became a special place after he was able to spend many months there. Eventually his health declined to the point he had to take an early retirement from Hill.

On June 1, 1984, he married Lesa Maughan and they had four children over the course of the next 12 years. They divorced after three decades of marriage, but continued spending holidays together as a family, and Lesa's support of him was a great help in his last years.

In his teen years, he spent most of his time outdoors exploring Logan Canyon and the surrounding areas to the point he knew them as well as the back of his hand. He loved to hunt and did so every season until his health kept him from being able to go. In his heart he was always hunting to the point that on the day he passed away he and his brother were going to go on a drive to scout out some of his favorite hunting spots. Camping was a favorite way to spend time with his family where he would often teach his children survival skills. He also loved space, science fiction, and Star Trek. He quoted Star Trek often, to the point we can imagine if he had known he was leaving this life, his last words would have been "Beam me up, Scotty."

Kyle is survivedd by his children Kristi (Awwen), Joshua (McKenna), Ashley (Matt), Taylor, their mother Lesa, 4 grandchildren, and his brothers Scott (Claudia), Brad (Sue), and Jeff. He is preceded in death by his parents and sweet granddaughter Ellen Virginia.

A thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and physical therapists that helped Kyle through the last decade, as well as a special thanks to his brother, Jeff, for helping Kyle through these last several years. Although he will be missed, his family takes comfort in the knowledge that he is no longer in pain of any kind.

Funeral Services (provided by Myers Mortuary) will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 21, 2023, located at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel, at 2620 E 8200 S, South Weber, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 9:00-10:30 am. Interment will be in Logan City Cemetery at 2:30 for family and close friends.
