Aurora, Utah - John L. "Jack" Shiner, age 88, of Aurora, died May 15, 2007 in Richfield, Utah. He was born June 22, 1918 in Delta, Utah, a son of Charles William and Sadie Jane Searle Shiner.
Jack served his country during WWII and was discharged after serving 5+ years in the US Army.

He married Maxine Andrews October 10, 1945 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Maxine died November 6, 1970.

He married Nila LaVern Huntsman Maxfield December 6, 1973 in Elko, Nevada. She died December 20, 2004.

Jack has lived in Aurora for the last 30 years. He was a High Priest in the Aurora 1st Ward. He enjoyed serving in various teaching capacities in the ward. Jack loved to collect and read LDS books, he was a coin collector, avid baseball fan and had a green thumb in the garden.

He is survived by his children: Jackie and Ivan Pyne of Madison, TN; Jerry Shiner, Andy and Julie Shiner, both of Richfield; daughter-in-law: Joyce Barney of Monroe; step-children: Yvette and Marshall Britton of Las Vegas, NV; DaNene and Tom Hutkay of Dillonvale, OH; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 21, 2007 at 12 Noon in the Aurora 1st LDS Ward Chapel.

Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
