Dr. Samuel J. Hayes, 37, formerly on the staff of Wassaic, NY, state school, who served his internship in Vassar hospital, died in a Baltimore hospital early Thursday of a tumor on the brain.  Dr. Hayes, formerly of Rock Hill, S. C., was at the Wassaic institution for about four months, then he joined a CCC camp in New Jersey for about six months. He returned to the Wassaic school, and on March 10, 1934 went to Hyner, Pa., as a physician in another CCC camp. He held a lieutenant's commission in the United States army. His bride of one year, the former Elsie M. LaDue, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles LaDue of Pine Plains, was graduated from Vassar Hospital Training school in June, 1932. The couple were married on March 1, 1934 at the Pine Plains Presbyterian church.  Dr. and Mrs. Hayes lived in a cottage at the CCC camp at Hyner. On Feb. 25 he became ill and a brain tumor was found. He was buried at Rock Hill where he is survived by his father and several brothers.
