Chester married Eleanor Coen Dec. 16, 1922, at Cook County, Illinois.

He lived on a farm north of Toluca, Illinois with his parents many years ago. He had made his home in Chicago until three years ago, when he and his wife moved to Monrovia. He was a member of Monrovia-Foothill Garden Club.
