Mary (Newell) Jones, 88, of Parsons, died at 8:07 a.m., Monday, October 9, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Center in Parsons.
She was born October 22, 1934, in Pittsburg, to Wallace J. and Hazel M. (Conwell) Newell. She grew up in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School in 1952. She attended Parsons Junior College two years and for a brief time attended Kansas State College of Pittsburg.
Mary lived in Wichita several years and taught school. She also lived in Kansas City, Houston, TX and Southwest City, MO before returning to Parsons in 2009. She held a variety of jobs during her working years, including working for Aetna Insurance in Houston.
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Parsons.
Surviving are three children, a brother, and a sister.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery in Erie. Friends may sign the book at their convenience at the funeral home.
