Those left to cherish her memory are her two loving and devoted daughters, Hope Copenhaver Hale (Tom) of Salem, VA and Frankie Copenhaver Bielawski (Bob) of Roanoke, VA, a stepson Jax Bowman (Sally) of Waynesboro, VA and one brother, Joe DeBusk (Dee) of Cabot, AR. Also surviving are four grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren that knew her as their MeeMaw and several nieces and nephews. Mabel was also blessed to have three beautiful and cherished friends in Jay Gouge, Jim Jackson, and Tracy Hash who gave her beautiful moments. Suburban Christian Church was her church home.
Mabel loved her family and provided and cared for her daughters when left a widow at a very young age. She never met a stranger, could talk to anyone that would listen, whether it be one minute or six hours, but, mostly, she loved to dance – that is where she "found her thrill."
A special thank you to Friendship Salem Terrace in Salem, VA where she lived the last two years of her life. They brought her many happy and fun days. Also, thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice that made her final days peaceful and calm.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Main Street location of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services start at 1:00 PM with Rev. Rich Pannell officiating. The burial will follow in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, at donate.lovetotheresue.org or mail to Shriners Hospitals for Children, P.O. Box 947765 Atlanta, GA 30394 or to Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Road Roanoke, VA 24018.
