David "Homer" Kevin Holmes, 62, of Inwood, WV passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at George Washington Hospital in Washington, DC

Born March 29, 1959 in Ranson, WV, he was the son of the late Leroy and Evelyn Miller Holmes.

He was a member of Homeward Calling of Open Doors.

David was a graduate of Jefferson High School, class of 1976 and a member of Charles Town Moose Lodge N0. 948. "Homer" was a 911 dispatcher for Jefferson County for over 31 years and a volunteer fire fighter for Citizens Fire Company for over 25 years and was a life member. Later, he volunteered for Bakerton Fire Co.

He is survived by two daughters, Christina Holmes of Martinsburg, WV and Renee Ault of Burkittsville, MD; one son, Joshua Smith and wife, Tracey of Charles Town; four grandchildren, John, Travis, Emmett and Jase, fiance', Tammy White, one brother, Wayne Holmes and nephew, Trevor Holmes and wife, Loretha and children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Holmes.

Services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 with Dr. Henry Christie officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 pm.
