Mattie Lucille (Lou) Taylor, 84, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Meadowbrook Care Center in Van Alstyne.

Dannel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Funeral services will be family night Friday, October 13, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, with graveside service at Luella Cemetery will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:30 AM. The family would like you to join them after the service at the home of Ken and Bobbi Taylor, 4258 Luella Road, Sherman for remembrance.

Lou was born in Dallas, Texas on January 10, 1939. She was one of nine children born to Leslie and Mary Gross. She was the last member of the family to pass on. On April 14, 1954, she married Thomas Taylor in Dallas. She worked at Texas Instruments in Dallas, McKinney, and Sherman before retiring. After retiring she delivered meals for Meals on Wheels and at an After School Program at the Methodist Church of Tom Bean. She studied and got her GED during this time.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Taylor; son, TD Taylor; granddaughter, Heather Taylor Holmes; great granddaughter, Lily Grace Taylor; parents, Leslie and Mary Gross; five brothers, Leslie, Ray, Johnny, Buddy, and a baby boy; and four sisters, Ruby, Francis, Anita, and Darlene.

She is survived by son, Randy Taylor and wife Kathy of Tom Bean; daughter, Vicky Highlander and husband Boyd of Tom Bean; grandkids, Jason Taylor and wife Amanda, Travis Taylor and wife Phoebe, Jessica Highlander, Joshua Highlander; great grandkids, Katie Wyatt and husband Thomas, Jaxon Cantu, Preston Holmes, and Grayson Taylor; great- great grandson, Tatum Wyatt.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Taylor, Travis Taylor, Joshua Highlander, Jaxon Cantu, Thomas Wyatt, Rick Gross, Tatum Wyatt, and Preston Holmes.
