BRADFORD, Alvin E., age 84 of Helena passed away on October 5, 2023. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, October 13th at 1:00 p.m., a Graveside service with military honors will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7100 N. Montana Ave. and a reception will follow in the Social Hall of the funeral home at 3750 N. Montana Ave.

Alvin Ellis Bradford, age 84, of Helena, passed away on October 5, 2023, peacefully at home after being diagnosed with lung cancer a short time before.

Alvin was born January 28, 1939 in Oroville, CA to Walter Garfield Bradford and Dorothy Fay Hubbard Bradford. The family made Woodland, CA home, and he graduated from High School in Esparto, CA.

Alvin joined the United States Coast Guard from 1956 to 1959 serving on the USCGC Minnetonka stationed in Long Beach, CA. He mainly worked as a Maintenance Mechanic and Supervisor working in Wineries and Food Processing Plants. Alvin worked a time at vineyards in French Camp, CA and with Nestle Foods and Del Monte Foods in Hanford, CA.

Alvin married Mary Jo Marian in Reno, NV on July 4, 1987. He enjoyed woodworking and making furniture and toys for the grandkids. He loved fishing and hunting and everything in the great outdoors.

Alvin is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lynette Owens, Atesha Hayden, Thelma Jennings, and Judy Waters; and a brother, Doug Walton.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Bradford; children, Alvin Gun Bradford, JoAnn Purtle, Jeffery Bradford, Robert Bates, Robin Toy, and Kenneth Bates; brothers, Robert Walton, Dennis Walton, and Kenneth Walton; sister, Lorraine Annette Oster; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2023 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Helena. A reception will be held in the Social Hall of Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home.
