He was preceded in death by wife, Darleen Thompson Sims; and parents, Delbert and Earline Blair Herrig.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served 4 years active duty and 21 additional years with the National Guard. He retired from McGhee-Tyson Airport Authority in 2002. He was a country music musician and at one time had his own band (Open Road Cowboys).
Funeral 12:00 PM Thursday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. Scott Knight officiating. The interment will follow in Ebenezer Ballplay Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends 11 AM – 12 PM Thursday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville, TN.
