The death has occurred of the Rev. Martin Leonard Winterton, who was Vicar of Trull, near taunton, for 27 years, until September, 1946, when he retired. He was 90 and had been living with jis daughter, Mrs M. Bassett, at Budleigh Salterton. Ordained deacon at Wells Cathedral in 1910, his first curacy was at Milborne Port, after which he became curate in charge of St. Thomas', Wells. He left the city to become Rector of Thurloxton. Mr. Winterton was assistant Diocesan Inspector of Schools for 13 years and Diocesan Organising Secretary of the S.P.C.K. for nearly 20 years.
