Barbara Louise Arentzen Adornato, age 80, of Monticello, died Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

Barbara Adornato was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Adolph Karl Arentzen and Verona Irma Coatts Arentzen. She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in 1958.

She moved to Orlando, Fla. after she married Lawrence Salvatore Adornato in 1959. She taught school for a number of years in Orlando, before moving to Monticello in 1971. Barbara started teaching Middle School Science in 1984; and retired in 1998. She was the yearbook sponsor for the Jasper County Middle School and High School for many years.

Barbara loved gardening; taking care of song birds; and watching and feeding wild animals. She basically loved nature.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Larry Adornato of Monticello; sons and daughters-in-law, Rocky and Lynn Adornato of Sammamish, Washington; Tony Adornato of Palmetto, Ga.; and Larry and Melissa Adornato of Newnan; and grandchildren, Gessica Adornato, Alissa Adornato, Rocco Adornato, Rachel Adornato, Alex Adornato, and Elizabeth Adornato.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held in the Adornato Family Cemetery in Monticello. Rev. Ben Strength will officiate.
