Alice Christine "Tink" Brown, 97 of Windham Twp., Rome, PA

Alice Christine "Tink" Brown, a woman of quiet faith, generosity, and boundless love, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2023, in Sayre, PA. Born on December 21, 1925, in Potterville, PA, Tink was a shining beacon of love and care to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Tink graduated from LeRaysville High School in 1942 and went on to work at the Endicott Johnson Shoe Factory with her siblings for over 20 years. She played softball and basketball for the factory team, even making it to the all-stars. She had a winning mentality for everything she did and there was little she couldn't do. She was an excellent ice skater, piano player, accordion player, hunter, bowler, card player, basketball, and softball player. Even though she was good at all of these endeavors, she never boasted. She was a quiet, kind, caring woman who always thought of others first.

Tink's zest for life was evident in her daily activities, mowing her lawn until just a few weeks ago, playing cards every week with her family, watching game shows and sporting events, and working on jigsaw puzzles. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Letter writing was also an essential part of Tink's life. She always found time to keep in touch with her loved ones, her words often bringing comfort, joy, and laughter to their lives.

Tink was a woman of great strength, having faced the loss of her loving husband, Joke, in 1995, and her son Randy in 1986. She was also predeceased by her parents, Tyler and Aline (Beckwith) Cook, and her siblings, Carol "Auntie" Cook, Ronald "Bud" (Joanne) Cook, and Bernard "Edie" Cook. Despite these losses, Tink's faith never wavered, and her spirit remained unbroken.

Tink's legacy of love and generosity will be carried on by her son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Terry Brown, her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Frank Darling, and her cherished grandchildren: Jason Brown; Kristi Brown (husband Scott Plucker); Mindi (James) Dorsey; Zach Darling and Kayla Darling. Her great-grandchildren, Brody and Heath Plucker, Hannah and Owen Dorsey, will also remember their great-grandmother with fondness. Tink is survived by several nieces, nephews, and their families, all of whom she held close to her heart.

As we remember Tink, we are reminded of a quote by Mother Teresa, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." Tink lived her life embodying this sentiment, touching the lives of many with her kindness, generosity and her unwavering faith. Her life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of the human spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation on Sunday, October 8th from 1 to 2 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A private family service will follow. Tink will be laid to rest on Monday, next to her husband in the Nichols Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting her guest book at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com

Those who wish may kindly consider a memorial contribution to the West Warren Congregational Church, c/o Judy Davenport, 3645 N Rome Road Ulster PA 18850 in loving memory of Alice C. "Tink" Brown.
