On Monday, October 2, 2023, Sandra Kay Hartless Barnes transitioned while in care at Virginia Beach General Hospital. Sandy was born to Woodrow Wilson Hartless and Arbutus Lucille Evans on August 15, 1949, in Washington, D.C. She joins her parents, five brothers, and her husband, James (Jimmy) Leslie Barnes.
She lived in Virginia Beach for most of her life, marrying Jimmy in 1966. She worked for General Foam & Plastics at her retirement. Her greatest joy were her two grandchildren and her great grandchild.
Sandy is survived by two sons, JD and David Barnes of Virginia Beach; three brothers, Ed Hartless of Elkton, VA, David Hartless of Wingina, VA, and Charles Hartless of Virginia Beach, VA; one sister, Suzette Hartless of Virginia Beach, VA; one grandson, Brandon Barnes and one granddaughter, Brenna Barnes both of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Princess Anne Chapel. Interment will follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park, and the family will receive friends in their home after the graveside service.
