Katherine (Kathie) Wilder Bailey Roby was born on December 7, 1944 in one of the several communities known as Gainesville, Texas, the daughter of Robert Bailey and Jane Elizabeth (Beaumont) Bailey.
She was a Girl Scout, served as a summer missionary, worked for the US Army at Fort Campbell and the Baptist Sunday School Board, taught elementary school and preschool and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Kathie was married on May 30, 1975 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee to Frederick Eugene "Fred" Roby (22 Mar 1943–21 Aug 2023), the son of Frances Orlean (Settle) (Roby) Austin (1918–1992) and her 1st husband Eugene Debbs Roby (1914–1987). {Kathie's mother Frances was married 2nd to William Ray Austin.}
Despite her health struggles over many years, she always had a smile and her infectious laugh with anyone around her. She had a peaceful spirit and a love for nature, camping, traveling and painting. Most of all she loved her family and friends and gave of herself generously. She was an amazing listener and unfailingly kind and encouraging.
Still in Clarksville, Kathie was 78 years old and a widow when she passed away on October 1, 2023.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother William Robert Bailey, brother-in-law Don Roby and sister-in-law Rosemary Roby, she was survived by a married daughter, a son, brother-in-law, and three grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Services were held on October 6th at First Baptist Church of Clarksville, and burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Clarksville.
